کتاب انسان در جستجوی معنی، اثری نوشته ی ویکتور فرانکل است که اولین بار در سال 1946 چاپ شد. شرح حال بسیار تأثیرگذار فرانکل با توصیف زندگی در کمپ های مرگ متعلق به نازی ها و درس هایی معنوی از چگونگی جان به در بردن از شرایطی غیرقابل تحمل، برای نسل هاست که مخاطبین را مسحور خود کرده است. فرانکل در بین سال های 1942 تا 1945 در چهار کمپ مختلف از جمله آشویتز به کار گرفته شد در حالی که پدر و مادر، برادر و همسرِ حامله اش جان باختند. فرانکل که روانپزشک است، بر اساس تجربیات خود و افرادی که بعدها درمان کرد، استدلال می کند که ما نمی توانیم از رنج اجتناب کنیم بلکه می توانیم چگونگی مواجهه با آن را انتخاب کنیم، در آن معنا بیابیم و با هدفی احیا شده به مسیر زندگی ادامه دهیم. این تئوری فرانکل که لوگوتِراپی یا معنادرمانی نام دارد، بیان می کند که نیروی محرکه ی اصلی در ما انسان ها، نه رسیدن به لذت بلکه کشف و پیگیری چیزهایی است که در ذهنمان، آن ها را دارای معنا می دانیم. این کتاب فوق العاده موفق تا زمان مرگ فرانکل در سال 1997 به فروشی بالغ بر ده میلیون نسخه دست یافت و به بیست و چهار زبان ترجمه شد.
